Though there is a Monument Valley in Utah, I will be talking about the iOS game Monument Valley. Monument Valley is a very interesting game for having a great Pre-Columbian theme to it as well as having sounds that sound like Hispanic music.
How does this game play and what is compelling about this game? This game has you tapping on a space to have the character move. However, puzzles exist such as lifting up certain columns to navigate around as the character will go up steps and you may find that some pathways will be destroyed and you have to figure out another way. The pathways are not as they first appear. Look closer and you will see that the pathways shift into being a real pathway even though it may look impossible at first.
As for the style of this game, I like the Southwestern and Ottoman architecture this game has to offer. I also like the Southwesterm music as both architecture and music give you the feel of the humble Southwest. I feel the architecture and sounds are more admirable than the gameplay as graphics for this game speak high definition. I had the ipad on Apple TV and it sounds amazing. What's great about this game is it tricks you and puts your brain to comprehension.
I know I can repeat things but I just came across a pathway that is formed when you turn the structure to a certain angle. If it was at any other angle it would look like two separate ledges. I at first was confused about what to do but then I realized that the two separate ledges form a connected pathway when you turn the building at a certain angle.
Even though the gameplay may feel like it has you just tapping to the point of which the character follows, this game is a puzzle game and it makes you poke around with sliding objects that manipulate the structures.
