The latest release to the Roller Coaster Tycoon series is Roller Coaster Tycoon 3D for Nintendo 3DS. There have been four releases of Roller Coaster Tycoon with each(exception of 3D) having expansion packs of their own. Roller Coaster Tycoon was released in 1999 and included two expansion packed. Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 was released in 2002 releasing two expansion packs with Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 seeing a 2004 and two expansion packs within the year after. All except 3D have had two expansion packs each which added new content and gameplay experience to the game. My favorite expansion pack in the entire series was Wacky Worlds for Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 since it was themed around different places of the world and that what I did was make these theme parks in RCT2 feel like cities such as for example making an Asian entrance for a Hong Kong themed park and a North American entrance for New York City theme. What Roller Coaster Tycoon 4 should have is mixing the best of these.
What should Roller Coaster Tycoon 4 have? The difference between Roller Coaster Tycoon 2-3 was in 2, you could create custom lots of different sizes and place entrances(4 max.) anywhere you can place them. In Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 however you are restricted in Sandbox mode to having only one type of entrance despite having numerous other designs in career scenarios. But Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 makes terrain building easier which is a new plus.
How should designing your custom park in Roller Coaster Tycoon 4 be? It should be made so you can custom make your own lot for theme park so you can have lots of space and enjoy building the amusement park of your dreams. Imagine taking everything that was great about both RCT2-3 and placing them in custom options for sandbox mode. Imagine having more customization options for a roller coaster tycoon game.
What about rides and attractions? All games have had their fair share of rides and attractions including spectacular roller coaster designs. I've felt that RCT2 had more content than RCT3 but RCT3 took some more realistic approach in modifications and graphics. It's been nearly 9 years since RCT3 was released and just think of the new types of rides Roller Coaster Tycoon 4 will have. I liked how you could ride the rides via camera in RCT3 which is something that should not be left out in RCT4. RCT3 did offer more flavors in how rides can be customized. RCT2 however comes out on top when it comes to content while RCT3 has a more smooth feeling to it.
What would be cool is adding a resort mode to Roller Coaster Tycoon 4 to make it feel like you're running a Walt Disneyworld clone. Not only will you be able to run your own theme park, but you can also run more than one at the same time plus run resort hotels. Plus, make ride variety more expansive and add automobile roller coaster cars like Rock n' Roller Coaster at Disney Hollywood Studios park. Maybe RCT4 expansion packs will include tons more content and deliver excellence.
How about adding restaurants as well as food stalls and shop stalls with ability to add shopping malls. What if we could make transportation rides connect to certain places outside the parks such as to hotels with Buses at parking lots. You can also in resort mode make it like a town where your theme parks and resorts are connected and add roads. Also connect to airports from outside the resort town in order to solicit more patrons. Resort mode can also be done with sandbox mode as well but playing career mode will help unlock more content. Some pre-made scenarios could include Disneyland and Universal Studios for example or parodies at least. RCT2 had Six Flags theme parks.
Roller Coaster Tycoon 4 should improve on graphics, recycle some of the awesome content from RCT2-3 while adding newer content and including more custom scenario options such as choosing size of your amusement park. It's important that if Roller Coaster Tycoon makes it's comeback, it make it spectacular.
