Blast From Past: Alice In Wonderland 2010 Video Game

Tim Burton's 2010 Alice in Wonderland was a weird film but very edgy and a great film. While a typical movie licensed game scores low, this game for the DS, Wii, PC, and Zeebo is actually decent. While the adventure of this game deserves praise, the graphics look like those of a 2007 PlayStation 2 but do have great resemblance to the film.

Gameplay is based on action-adventure gameplay and this game does have a fair amount of puzzles. For example, the rabbit with the clock can freeze time of an object. New abilities will be unlocked as you advance through the level. Mad Hatter, McTwisp the White Rabbit, Cheshire the Cheshire Cat, Thackery Earwicket the March Hare, and Mallyumkin Mouse are playable characters and you can master different abilities such as invisibility, altering perception, and manipulating time. The game's story revolves around Alice's adventure in wonderland and solving puzzles to get through obstacles. I like use of puzzles and obstacles so gameplay doesn't become repetitive. Characters and enemies are what you see in the movie. Combat in this game will get repetitive and solving puzzle is the gameplay's saving grace.

Graphics look somewhat unpolished and look more like a late 2006 to early 2007 PlayStation 2 game. Though some voice acting from the movie is retained, others were replaced. I do give the game credit for making the character and environment designs spectacular. What ruined that was mushy graphics that made the game look like it was from 2005-07 for the PlayStation 2. Don't get me wrong as PlayStation 2 still had games produced for it well into 2012 but does the average casual Wii game need to look watered down? Had it been a PS3 or Xbox 360 game would it have been much different? I will give this game credit for resembling the movie a lot.

Alice In Wonderland video game has great puzzles, great resemblance, and won't push your patience but mushy graphics and repetitive combat are thorns in this game. Final Verdict is 7/10.

+Great Adventure
+Amazing Resemblance of Movie
+Amazing Puzzles and Magic Abilities
-Mushy and Outdated Graphics
-Repetitive Combat
