Game Party In Motion is an arcade style game with 16 classic arcade games and is only for Xbox 360, requiring use of Kinect. The Game Party franchise has had games with abysmal reviews and no game has been freed from having reviews under 33/100.
First of all, i like some of the concepts of motion sensing for some of the games. Each games functionality depends on how well it's controlled as each game will be fun to play and other times it will try your patience. With menu selections, your patience will be pushed as you struggle to find out how selections are made. I learned you need to swipe hand to switch between options and lower hand to meet the check mark but sometimes the Kinect has a habit of misinterpreting movements so you have to be near perfect.
Second, I did enjoy playing some of these games but some control better than others as while these games are fun to play controlling them can at times be a frustrating chore. I like the potential in the Kinect and believe that a person's body being the controller can be a great concept. The Kinect has a problem with transferring actions properly and this game is no exception as projectiles may not register as properly as if you were playing with for example an Xbox 360 controller or even a Wii Remote.
Third, while these games can be fun, it would have been better off being WiiWare or iOS/Android titles as they would have been cheaper and gamers could choose for themselves what games to play by selecting the individual game for under $0.99. Bundling games like these, even if it's Kinect simply doesn't fit good economics as it's much easier and more pleasing to go iOS/Android/XBLA/PSN/WiiWare instead of pushing 2010 full retail price.
While Game Party In Motion has great concepts and while games can be fun, it falls into despair as it pushes your patience, has undeveloped controls, and has ruined opportunity to make these games be separated into parts by having then be either apps or digital download mini-packs for just under $1. Warner Bros Entertainment just HAD to push it the way it was and suck more money from gamers buying this disappointment! The Kinect feels more like a prototype with this game than a final product!
Final Verdict for this game is a 4.1/10. Points:
+Great Concepts
+Fun Games
-Frustrating Controls
-Lack of Replay Value
-Priced More Than It's True Worth
